Department of Pharmacognosy is engaged in the study of the drugs from natural products i.e., Plant, Animals, Marine and other life origins. Research areas include extraction, isolation, characterization and biological studies of phytoconstituents using animal models. Moreover, in the modern era, the study is related to but not limited to the physical, chemical, biochemical and biological properties of crude drugs and derived products, including the discovery of new drugs from natural sources. The students acquire the skill to identify and differentiate between crude drugs and adulteration.

Medicinal Plant Garden: -

 

The institute has developed a medicinal plant garden in the institutional campus. The medicinal plant garden has around 500 species of the medicinal plants.
